I'm pretty sure with every Yamaha speedo I've ever tried to spin with a drill, the drill had to be in reverse. That's normal.
So I'm not sure I understand the problem?

If spinning in reverse direction with drill is correct why would my cable spin in the other direction when spinning the wheel forward ?

This kind of stuff makes my head hurt thinking about it so I need to see it.
It may be that you're facing the end of the cable and the drill is facing the back of the speedo?
Here's the best way I can describe...
Speedo needle swings clockwise when looking down from top like normal....
Cable has to spin the same direction when looking down on end of cable that connects to back of speedo...
Make sense so far?
When you hold your drill with the chuck facing towards you, like it is when connected to the wheel end of the cable, it must be in reverse to spin the cable and therefore the speedo clockwise.
As far as what's happening with your wheel, is your front brake plate with speedo cable on the left side of the bike when sitting on the seat facing forward? Could you be spinning the wheel backwards by mistake? (easy to do)
Pictures and/or video of what you're seeing would be very helpful if the above doesn't make sense.

Ah ha ! Someone has changed the fork tubes and put the brake hub side on the right. (sitting on the bike) this explains everything. I never owned one of these before and didn't catch it, thanks for the help.
