Center plug is miles better from a performance verses efficiency point of view. Much better burn pattern. Great bike you have there by the way.

As soon as I get feeling back in my fingers I’ll put in a new kick starter shaft and start engine reassembly.

Schu, There's all levels or restoration so something for everyone. These old bikes are all about having fun. This DT-1 is a bit further than most but I wanted the made you look factor. We all like shiney things so maybe someone's imagination will be ignited to restore something old or keep it around for the next guy.

And +1 on that also.

Agreed, we all decide what level of restoration we want to go for, and while I just did a basic restoration, focusing on safety and running well, I also love seeing the fully restored bikes.

I rode to a vintage motorcycle meet a few weeks ago, and a guy I met there had a 1969 Kawasaki 250 Sidewinder that was completely restored, and it was beautiful. I was asking him what he paid for various things like repainting the tank, and he kind of shrugged it off, saying he has a buddy with an auto restoration business. I didn't press him further, but I have a feeling he basically got everything done for free, maybe after doing some of the prep work himself. He also won the "bike of the month award", and I did vote for his.
