Hi LESJETS
I saw your post for parts … can I ask what are the issues with the gas tank, oil tank and rear light/licence plate bracket shown that came with the bike??
I take it you are a restorer of RTs?
My approach is to get them running/riding and when the right parts turn up improve/ make correct.
you are right though …. something special about a ‘68 and for me best wearing its age accumulated since it left the factory …
cheers

It’s a AT tank, not a DT1 fuel tank, oil tank has some sharp creases, tail light bracket has forward mount broken tab, usual dents in rear fender. Hoping to source some nice parts as the bike is calling to me. It runs and rides but needs a full restoration.

Ah … that’s explains…. the oil tank is common with 69/70 .. so should be an easy replacement and paint black …
tail light bracket…. again if 2 hole then whilst they are easily damaged… again out there ..
aluminium front fender … pricey …
8mm gas tank with bottom bolt stay …. Good luck … a good one will be north of $1000 if the seller knows what they have …. hard to find …
Cheers T1

LETSJET - I’m helping a buddy with a rider restoration on a ‘68 with a similar vin as yours. His original tank had some leaks so he went the route of converting a ‘70 DT1 tank to accept the original under tank mount. I’ll see if he’s open to sell the original tank. We also converted a later two bolt license bracket to a single bolt using my original as a template. Once painted you would not know the difference. A good welder/fabricator can do wonders fixing old parts.
