BARN FIND 1968 DT-1 250 was created by LETSJET

Just bought this 1968 matching numbers  DT-1 250cc. It has the original California pink slip signed by the original owner. He sold it to a neighbor and I bought it from that person here in Reno. It has the black and yellow original license plate that matches the pink slip. The original owner put the original tank aside and ran it with a 1970 green CT-1 fuel tank and oversize rear sprocket. There is the original rear wheel that came with the bike well as the elusive tank mount bracket. Pretty much all there other than no instruments. Anyone have any interest as I have several bikes ahead of this one? Could be a great restoration project.

Any other brave souls who have done a 1968 DT-1? I'm warming up to it but I have 3 RT3's in line waiting for me. I have a 1970 DT-1 but a 68' may be a parts problem.
They are a pretty bike.

‘68’s are definitely a passion project.  Mine was very complete but I still spent 4 years accumulating the missing bits all the while parts prices have been going through the roof.  As I’m sure you are aware, your biggest challenges are the tachometer, lower chain guard, front fender and headlight bucket. They are definitely an exercise in patience.  I say put it at the back of the line and keep a keen eye out for the missing pieces.

P.S. - Plus you got a nice start on a ‘70 CT1 as part of the deal

Looks like a AT fuel tank on the bike but I have the mounting bracket for a DT tank, just need a tank. I'll accumulate parts when I can source them to complete the bike. They really are a pretty bike.

i was talking about the green tank being from a ‘70 CT1

’68 Tanks and frame mounts were changed at VIN #13000. What is the VIN# of the bike? Is the white tank the original ?

Vin is DT1-09578 so I'm guessing that the correct tank will be hard to find.

I know first year DT1's are tough to restore parts wise. I always hoped to find a nice one and pay the price to get it and not have to build one. But there's a lot to learn about the 1968's and that part is fun. It's hard to resist making every bike that goes through your hands just a bit better. My problem is that the 1968 is simply a sharp looking bike.
