Hey guys,
My 1971 ct1 175 randomly revs to high RPMs without going faster, not al the time it appears to do it when its cold,. After it warms up it gets beter. What are you thoughts ?

From your description , it sounds like clutch slipping . What oil are you using in the gearbox ?

I had a CT3 that did the same thing, like swoop says, sounds like a slipping clutch.

OK , that oil will be fine . Modern car oils have anti friction additives , which don't combine well
with wet clutches on motorcycles .
Check your clutch cable is lubed and moves freely , the pivot lever down in the sprocket cover
likewise . Make sure your pivot lever is adjusted correctly , as per manual , and you have some freeplay
back at the clutch lever . If that doesn'y work , then you'll have to delve into the clutch itself .
