Autolube Pump leaking was created by mdscott

Hello, my autolube is leaking at the seal behind the wheel, I ordered a seal (93101-10090) but I noticed there was some hard material in the cavity, pieces came out but not everything. I guess I need a little advice.

Put the new seal in and check the pump's oil output.
Make sure it is pumping oil to the cylinder.

Thanks DEET, I had the pump adjusted, bleed from the tank, at the the pump and to the cylinder. next day I noticed a leak. What do think the stuff was in the shaft, looked like baked oil, It was very brittle.

I don't know. It came from the oil tank.

You would not believe the stuff I find in the pumps.

At least your shaft is not rusted. If it was, I would have advised you to send it in for restoration.
It may need restoration, but if you are getting oil it should be OK for a while.
If that seal leaked, the others may be hardened also.

Can oil come up through the center opening? If not then the leak was only from the seal. Also have you seen the output fitting come loose?

Thanks DEEt,
I'm planning on going to California dreaming in march, hopefully it stops raining up here in NoCal so I can test ride to get the bugs out.
Thanks again
Thanks Mark

My '71 250MX pump is also leaking but is still functioning OK. I have been looking at the parts breakdown for the pump on CMS website; the only parts that I see are a seal (9310110090) and a diamond shaped gasket (yamaha# 126-13116-01). I guess my question is: does anyone know of a rebuild kit that would have everything needed to rebuild the pump? I know to remove the pump I have to remove the case so I would need that gasket and should probably go ahead and replace the kick starter oil seal also. Thanks in advance for any info/advice.
