1982 Yamaha XS400RJ was created by Jamess29

Hello, new to the forum and looking for a bike that I saw at a local parts and motorcycle sales shop. It was definitely a project, but I checked the vin number and the title is what came up. Now Google shows me the regular xs400.but the one that I saw had knobby tires and a motocross type front fender. Does anyone know what the "RJ" means for the XS400 or was this pieced together to look like a Enduro. It would be a different style bike but not if I can't find parts to restore. Thanks

Welcome!

It was originally 100% a street bike.

I believe the "RJ" was the "Seca" model that had sort of "road race" styling.

There was at least another model (SJ?) named the "Maxim" that was "cruiser" styled.

Thanks that's what I was finding on Google. I will have to take a picture of it next time I go to check it out. It looks pretty cool as an Enduro tho! So parts would be for the Seca model. Fairly easy to track down.. Hmm
