In my quest to make sure I get another 50 years out of my regular riders I've been buying NOS wear and tear replacement items. Over the last 3 years I bought 8 NOS cylinders for the DT1E, RT1B, DT3 and RT3. Plus several pistons and corresponding rings and other bits that go along with a rebuild. I was having trouble with a few specific sizes, they were not available anywhere. Forum member Enduronut had what I needed to complete the sets of standard, first, second, third and fourth oversizes.
Thanks Dave for enabling me to keep them going.

Pedalcrazy: Yes, they will sell all of my stuff BUT I have them for me to touch and enjoy today. I have fenders, wheels, engines, horns, switches, taillights all of the good stuff in boxes with labels on the outside. I take my 70 Husqvarna out, start it and ride around my one acre back yard same with all my early 70 Yamaha MXs. It is who I am. I don't need the money and if I had the stuff he had it would be (and is) stored on almost the same shelves, mine are chrome.
I had to throw away some of my father in laws prized possessions that he thought were treasures and I knew were junk. It is painful, but I believe in displaying it for me to see. I show others who come to visit and from time to time I clean and polish parts that will never be used.
Just like cars from the 1920s and 30s, in 30 years our bikes will be worthless because no one of my generation will be there to buy them, lets enjoy them for what they are. Your comment made me laugh but at the same time it is sad because you are absolutely right, a lot of the stuff we cherish will be thrown away.

My oldest son, oldest stepson and youngest stepdaughter have modern bikes. They enjoy riding the Enduros. Each one has picked a favorite that I plan to leave them along with spare parts. That is if I don't wear them out before I'm too old to ride. I also have a grandson. Time will tell if he becomes interested in these.
I think it would be very cool if some of these were still being ridden 50 years from now.
