Does anyone know how many times i need to wrap the spring on the kick starter before hooking it the pin?

As far as I know, it should be just from resting position over to the pin. If you do that and it's loose likely the stop at the back of the shaft has slipped on the spline and you'll need a new one or you can have yours repositioned and welded in place. If the case has a wear groove past where the stop would originally hit when kicked it's a tell tale sign of slippage. I'm dealing with this as we speak on my CT3 and have on a CT1 and CT2. Plenty of them on ebay but be wary as many may have been compromised as shown above. Good luck.

I just upgraded my kicker assembly on my CT1C because it slipped on the internal stopper spline and the kick lever was up against the side case. I swapped it out with a kicker assembly from a 76 DT125 which I was told had been revised and is stronger.
I wondered the same thing in regards to how much to preload the spring. The one I removed was preloaded about 3/4 of a revolution, so I did the same with the replacement. But if my old one had slipped, then I wonder if I should have preloaded the replacement more than 3/4 of a revolution......

My guess is they have about half a turn preload without pulling mine apart to check. Too much & it'll coil bind on kickstart movement but shouldn't be able to pre-wind it that far anyway.. You'll be going from wherever the hook end is when the shaft is in place to pulling it around to the locating pin somewhere at the bottom.
