Hi all,

I want o use a very nice plastic gas tank but the fuel valve is leaking. The valve is mounted into the tank with a rubber grommet type situation and has deteriorated a bit. It just a bad design and I am looking for an alterative. Does  anyone know of a good petcock and bung setup that would work for this tank?
It ids just one hole. I really don't want to drill more holes in the tank if I can help it. Could make thing worse. I see lots of petcocks with various mounting methods but I don't see any value and bung combinations for sale. Only expensive setups for Harleys with weld in bungs.

Any help or comments is appreciated.

If it's the type I've seen and used...  33/64ths hole drilled in tank... that design is used on aircraft and is used on lots of things things like generators...  works great and holds up for many years..  You probably have an old grommet or one that is not up to modern fuel with ethanol... or both.

This is the grommet I use...  www.wicksaircraft.com/shop/viton-fuel-tank-grommet/

Or these cheaper ones work too.

A local small engine shop might have them.

If you need the petcock itself...  it wasn't clear what you were asking and I have one that's close to 50 years old and still works fine...  they are also available...  straight ones are harder to find and more expensive than they used to be but 90 degree is still cheap.

Most of the plastic tanks back in the day used these push-in petcocks and like I said, they work good.  I can't remember seeing a bulkhead petcock but if you're determined to go that route you could try a bulkhead hose fitting and an in-line petcock.

Thanks for the reply,Yes that is exactly what I have! Good to know there are still replacements! I will get a setup just like this that should last long time.I am running a bit of VP ethanol eliminator/stabilizer to help with the ethanol issues. I will drain the tank too when I am not riding. Thanks so much for your help!
