Apologies to the mods if linking to other forums is not allowed.  I will understand if the post is deleted if so.

OK.  I have documented the restoration of my 79 DT175mx on a thread in the general chat section on another site I visit.  No worries it is not a porn site or anything like that.
It depicts the ups and downs of my restoration from when I bought it as a bike that had undergone a "2 year full restoration" and paid well over the odds for it on that premise to the workarounds to get it running as it should.  Stuff like it is a 79 UK spec bike, but due to the actions of the previous owner, and unobtainable parts, I have had to rewire it as a  DT175E with the single plug ignition switch ect.

If you have 30 minutes to spare, you may find it entertaining.  Oh, there are lots of pics too.

Replied by 1971DT250 on topic The Trials of the Vintage Motorcycle Restorer.

I read through your post on the other forum. I also have found many problems put in by previous owners. I have 4 Enduros that are original, unrestored, complete and have no evidence that anyone worked on them. I have some that were "restored" by others. They took me some time to correct the mistakes but I was glad to get them since the paint and chrome was good.

I am willing to pay more for complete, unmolested bikes. They are cheaper in the long run.
The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.

There are no trials or tribulations completing vintage Yamaha Enduro restorations. It’s just time and money. But there is one other very important component to the; “Art of Yama.”
That is having just a bit of help from your trusted friends. Without them’ and the appreciative customers who want the best’ bikes without having to personally do the work themselves.

So for this’ is the Grand Slam Opportunity to thank the Yamaha Community for the Best Year so far.
