Today...head on, flywheel tightened down,  exhaust on, etc.
122 lbs compression
a beautiful blue spark

Clean up and put away crap...look for the doggone missing carb nut @^$&$*$...it's not in the crank, I promise....
tomorrow,  slap on fuel tank and cross fingers...

That’s super exciting that you are so close. I couldn’t sleep waiting for tomorrow to come! I am just a little concerned about 122 PSI.  Better numbers might be 130 or higher but it will run!

I would have liked 130 too...I probably shoulda went with the bore out and 1st oversize,  but so it goes. It should run okay. I'm not ripping up a racetrack with it....

You're fine.  Looking forward to you getting it running!

I rigged up a 4' step ladder next to my bike.. an extra length of gas hose and started it without the tank on the frame... Just in case there was something to fix before I did mount the tank... Removing and re-applying really seems a pain in the bum...
Its been fun following yer progress.. lumps and all!

1,  It started and ran like a champ.
2. Smooth running for a bit. (I went easy to just warm it up)
3. 2nd fouled plug in a short while...I have several new ones at the ready
but 4. my doggone battery was dead within 5 min (no accessories or lights on)...

so on the charger.  But I am optimistic.  Why would it foul plugs so fast?
It sounded SO NICE out of the gate....

Battery won't affect running--not related. Not sure about fouled plugs but are they oil fouled or something bridging the gap. don't have gap too wide, like 24thou max & 20 min at this stage. & most important is to have the flywheel tight. I know i harp on about that but we get a lot of flywheel keys broken on this forum.

Will it affect starting?
I will double check the flywheel.

Post #8--no, nut tightness won't affect starting but if it shears off the crank key then yes it sure will. Likely kick back or worse. But you'd soon know because if it happened riding down the street it'd start running like a hairy dog & probably not start once stopped. Just a point i like making about tightening it fully.
