You need to get it out of there or it will be catastrophic.

Sometimes a magnet works.  Sometimes a little thick oil or even grease and turning over crank slow with rod will drag it to the top.

Or if engine is out you can try turning it upside down.

Also sometimes you think it fell in but didn't.

P.S.  Assembly 101 is to cover bottom end with rags when removing and installing clips.

Blimey, you're having all the luck. Catastrophic if left in there. Good magnet stick should catch it. Not a $2 shop stick where the end loff & you have two things stuck down there. Otherwise turn motor --or bike-- upside down totally, but have something to catch it incase it goes past & lost without seeing it go, then thinking its still in there hiding.

I gave up for the night but I can see it in there. Couldn't hook it with a long wire.  The 5 dollar gas station one did not work too fat.  I will acquire one and press on. Learned a lesson today

And I had the hole covered to start. Trouble getting the rings to compress so took to the bench. Doggone it!!  One careless moment...

Sounds crazy but in my experience honey works better than thick grease.

Scratch a flat blade screwdriver on a flywheel magnet a few times & you'll hook it out.

Yes!! The offending circlip is OUT. I charged a long bolt with my dial gauge magnet. Out it came.  Whew!! Okay rookie lesson learned.
