Tricky little sods. If there's end play in the shaft it pays to hold it towards you while sliding things on as doesn't take much to trap that bearing. But sounds like you're ok now!!.

Thank you for all of the help people. I would have been banging my head on a wall if I didn't get your help. Special thanks to MarkT for catching the extra washer on the CT3's. It runs great,shifts smooth and just waiting on the carrier to take it out to the desert.
