Chart/List of Fasteners was created by Davo
I am curious if such a thing exists... is there a list of all fasteners i.e. bolts, nuts, screws, etc. for DT/RT bikes. Or, like in the parts lists where the parts are pointed to from the part #, also have the metric discription of the item. m6 x 1.5 and so forth.

The screw size is in the part number. I think the part numbers are explained in the back of the service manual. 95850-06010-00 is an M6x10, spring washer would usually end in 06100, flat washer is usually 06200 and plain nut is usually 06600. There are exceptions when it comes to special fasteners. I bought a bunch of JIS screws off Amazon but there is a seller on ebay (MOTODAD) that sells kits for alot of our bikes. I have bought all his kits and have been very pleased with them.
Cheers

OIC, I do recall seeing something on the topic of "decoding Yamaha part numbers" somewhere. I had no idea about that. Wow, cool concept.

These look good, although I've not purchased from them yet.

Many of the early Parts Manuals and Service Manuals have a "part number decoder" section.
69-71 AT/CT parts manual in the Tech Library definitely does.

I generally change out all my bikes to the stainless socket heads - that is a decent price as well. I usually find them on eBay.
IF it isn't one thing, it's another.

I have bought loads off motodad. I buy loads to save on postage to the UK.
I can see the value of using socket heads but myself i don't use stainless in aluminium because of galvanic corrosion. Yes you can use Molycote or other products on insertion , it's just my choice
If im competing on bikes then i use socket heads as it's less hassle .
For rebuilds i prefer JIS screws just because i like the look of them .
It would be very benificial though if there was such a GO TO chart though for quick use in the workshop.
