Just got sent this link. Looked good at first glance, then once you look closer, it's terrible and not cheap!

for a comparison of the paint layout, here is a 75:

and a 76:

note how the fonts are wrong and the pint hash above the main logo is incorrect.

he has several overpriced incorrect tanks listed . . .

I was wondering when they'd get around to making "reproduction" tanks for the enduros in India...  they've been making them for many different bikes for a few years now.

I've seen that tank and yeah it's too darn expensive, not to mention the color doesn't look right and now that you've pointed out the decals are right either I see that too... Thanks!

Thanks for all the info. But now here is my Want Ad. I want that tank. I am going to paint it anyway So I don't care what it looks like. It will be new, inside and out, with no dents or scratches. And NO RUST. Any one have an OE tank that meets that description and is priced at least $ 100 cheaper, please send me a message. I have just sent a message to the company to see if I can get one in primer only. I am waiting on a reply. I also asked about metal thickness.

Mace, I was thinking the same thing, it has to be better for the money than anything I have found.  The last tank I bought for my 70 DT1 MX, I bought two since the first one was not right (it was a CT1 not DT1 as advertised), so I paid for two tanks THEN I had it professionally sealed which was another couple of hundred, THEN I had it painted (more hundreds) I ended up with a great tank BUT unless the metal is tin foil on the ebay tank, it has to be better than what I have gone through on some of my gas tanks.  I would be willing to take a chance, even if you have to strip it and repaint, it.  Some of the forum members do amazing work with a rattle can, but I do not have that talent.Mace, I was thinking the same thing, it has to be better for the money than anything I have found. Some of the forum members do amazing work with a rattle can, but I do not have that talent.

There are numerous sellers on eBay selling the new painted tanks in yellow or orange, here is a link for a non painted one, check all the sellers as the prices range from low $400's to high $500's for what appear to be the same tanks. I had a few of these tanks on my "watch list" and I received an offer from a seller with a discount of 9% off.

I agree, if you plan to paint it anyway you're getting a fresh metal tank without any functional issues, dents, or damage. You'd likely pay that much for a nice used original tank anyway, and never know what you're really getting. I wish they offered reproductions of the early RT1/DT1 badge tanks, $400-500 would be a great price for a solid, straight tank that has become REALLY difficult to find these days.

I don’t disagree if you are planning on painting anyway. The problem I have is the seller seems to think they are “correct” and many folks who don’t have the benefit of this site might fall for it.

Might be why that seller does not have side picture of the tank.
