Any idea what those tubes on the frame are for, I’ve heard different theories. They are on KDX also.
Thanks Mark

No idea maybe to reinforce the plastics of something that sits in a jig while the frames built
Got the new kx500 rear fender bolted on fits mint will just add some extra foam when I fit the new seat cover and it will look smart

Those are antennae they use to transmit your location back to the mother ship! Wrapping your helmet in foil might help protect you when riding one of those green "alien" machines.
Seriously... They kind of look like braces to prevent the side panel from collapsing in?

Sorry for the hijack...
Love the progress on this bike! Can't believe how what looked like a complete wreck has been transformed!

Sorry Mark, Even though your first answers are probably right I’m going to have to disagree on both.
On my KDX that little bracket is below the side cover so it won’t help. And it only has it on the right side not the left. One theory is that your boots won’t catch on the side cover when you lift your leg off, It works for me when I’m doing with those table tops or can cans,
Thanks Mark

Looks good from far haha and in pictures I have a feeling it's gonna get the rest of the plastics kit yet haha so far the quick refresh budget went out the window and a few dollars are just flowing out of the pocket haha
Did the rear wheel bearings today 3 of them cost 87 bucks all up but it's done and should last years. Also got my new chain guide it's on and lined up beautifully rear wheel is just a tyre and tube away from finished need to find a rear brake caliper mine broke trying to unseaze the slide pins

Major peice of the puzzle back from my engineering buddy who solves the problems I can't in my home shop. Pressed the messed up axle out of the klx/kx usd triple clamps turned down a new one to fit the kdx top bearing and added a preload nut and thread above to set the bearing preload before bolting on the upper clamps.
Also stopped at the bike shop and picked up a matching Bridgestone battlecross x30 front to go with the battlecross rear haha and new heavy duty tubes front and rear
