oil pump hoses was created by maxx2395

HI Everyone
does anyone know if the oil pump hoses for my at2
are available from anyone pre bent, the universal hoses
seem to be kinking where they have a tight bend.
Thanks for your time.

Buy Yamaha hose from Yamaha.  It's not pre-bent but I don't think it ever was...  age can do that.  Right stuff and works great.

HI
They are definitely pre bent, with very sharp bends, they
could not do this with time or heat.
Thanks for the reply.

My memory is dodgy nowadays, I have an annoying habit of conflating threads and I haven't had my second coffee of the morning yet! However, I seem to recall this being discussed in an earlier thread and the conclusion was that some hoses were originally pre-formed (the thread might have been referring to fuel hoses).

You could try putting the part number into fleabay and see what comes up. Otherwise, as Mark suggests, buy original Yamaha hose and take care how you route it.

Just thinking of a complete 'left field' thought (that I haven't tried myself so don't have a clue whether it's possible) but is there any way of 'moulding' the hoses.  I'm thinking could you put a wire 'former' inside the hose(s) bend it all to the shape you want then maybe

immerse it all in boiling water for a time OR even bake it for a little while in an oven OR even freeze it to a setting OR even get a heat gun on it for a while OR even a combination of these techniques OR have I simply 'lost the plot'

The one that surprised me the most was the factory fuel hose formed with a 90 degree bend on the HT1 model.

Early Yamaha models did have formed (plastic?) tubing.

It's possible that they used formed rubber hose as well...  especially on the smaller hose to cylinder...  just seriously don't remember that to be the case in 1972?

I have what I believe to be an original 1971 parts list and the part number can be found "NOS" on ebay.  Ebay oil hose

Hose on ebay might have the same part number but be "superseded" from the original type.  A real expert like DEET or Enduronut would hopefully know.

One on ebay just a straight hose...  but Yamaha tubing is MADE for the application.  it's not a generic hose.  I've used brand new Yamaha hose on countless bikes and while it's a tight fit I have never failed to get it installed without kinking.  The original pump to cylinder hose uses the neat little original spring clamps which will not work with any other hose I've found.  And I have use "weedeater" fuel line successful without kinking but the clamping of the tiny hose is problematic.

Hose you can get new from Yamaha today has simply always worked for me...  and if factory clamps for small line to cylinder are missing I buy new.

Good luck getting it solved...  some things are fiddly with these bikes and the tight routing of oil lines is not one of my favorite jobs.

My guess (and that's all that it is) is that the original part number, 214-13161-00, was the pre-formed one, and the part number this superseded to, 214-13161-01, was the straight item.

Interestingly, the parts list on CMSNL shows a change of part on the pump itself, from a banjo fixed horizontally, to a nozzle mounted vertically.

The two part numbers shown above are likely to have been cut to the correct length, whereas the part currently provided,  90445-05032, probably comes in a 0.5 metre length, and you have to cut to size yourself.

You may be correct Alan...  but look at the variety of bikes that "214" prefix part fits.  Prefix is for a 1968 DT1.  DT and AT have different pump cavities and pump orientations... if that part number was a precision formed hose I doubt it would have that many applications?  Or even fit both the AT and DT equally well?

Of course I could be wrong...  wouldn't be the first time!

My parts list predates the era when Yamaha switched many of the more "common" parts to the 9 series part numbers.

I'd trust your interpretation more than mine, Mark!

Full disclosure, I didn't read all of this thread but did see the "pre-formed" question, please disregard if I'm off topic.
Pics of NOS fuel line & used oil pump line from my current 68 DT1 project. (note: pristine oil pump courtesy of DEET's Time Machine!!)
Thanks
