73 DT-3 on the road again... (almost) was created by gvthnks
After about ten years and many life happenings, the 73 is close to being on the road again.
Fresh top end,
crank seals, (engine pressure tested well)
new tires and tubes,
new brake shoes,
new air filter.
Still waiting on the rear tank damper and a skid plate to show up from ebay, but other than that, I'm getting close and feeling excited. I installed a TTO temp gauge just to monitor engine temps. I'm jetted rich right now (170) but will probably go back to 160 and see how the temps are there.
Still to do: Flush and refill forks.replace speedo/tach bulbs, reattach the seat cover to the pan, and replace the upper tail light rubber damper. I also need to find some mirrors or at least one mirror for this thing.
I also have a cargo rack for the back but not sure if I'll mount it or not. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Have been reading this forum since two iterations ago. Lost login credentials some time around 2012 or so, created a new account, and life happened. DEET rebuilt my stator a year or so ago and I just got around to getting it set up a couple weeks ago. Thanks for the great help, DEET, and all those who have helped knowingly or otherwise over the years.
I'm not a polish kind of guy. I like stuff to look its age.

Sounds like you’re being very conscientious about your rebuild and that’s wonderful and rewarding. I have several TTO temp gauges on bikes and they provide great info on what’s happening with combustible temps. Keep up the good work!

I am trying to be thorough.
I remember riding two strokes as a kid in the early 80s. If I knew then what I know now, I would've done more riding and less fixing. Of course, it was all the fixing that taught me what I know now...
