Can't easily find it on the site 'despite looking' but generally speaking it'd be notch 3 'or middle notch' giving scope up or down. After 50 years chances are the jet the needle slides in is a bit worn so likely need the move the clip up, 'up as towards the top' to counter the jet wear. New needle jet plus needle is always a good plan & about the only thing that wears in there.

Service manual in the Tech Library has the jetting specs...  Needle 6DH3-3.

The -3 is the clip position from the top....  3rd or middle.

I'm a little hesitant on the above because Yamaha did have jetting revisions on that model.  Not sure if all the options used the middle clip position.  Would be best to check your jets against the Service Manual specs..  if you have different jets, might have to look for the other specs (which I can't find in my stuff right now)

At the risk or being proven wrong again , I think there was a jetting revision during
RT1 production , through the 71 year if I remember correctly .
However , I think the RT2 and RT3 were unchanged from their original carb spec .

You are probably correct Swoop...  AT/CT reed models definitely had changes...  I might be thinking of those and of the earlier RT.  My Yamaha stuff is packed away but I might have a notebook I can check.

I have a note that says the air screw changed from 1.5 turns to 2 turns but nothing on the other jets...  I've always been more focused on the smaller bikes so I'm sure Swoop is correct.

If my scribbles are correct, DT2/3 and RT2/3 are about the only models over 100cc that didn't have jetting revised for 72-73.  MX250 and 360 did.

Thanks Swoop!
