Can’t find top end kit…?? was created by Oldskool18
New member here! I have a 1972 DT2 250 I bought a couple years ago… I tore down the top end and the piston looks rough! I CANNOT find a top end piston, rings, gasket etc. kit anywhere for this 72. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

+1 to Mark's suggestion.
Also check out the online parts manuals on Partzilla and CMSNL and then search fleabay for the items individually. The piston and rings part numbers for your model have changed for some reason, so replace the first three numbers of the part numbers shown with 311 and search under this as well.
Treat with great suspicion any listing that says it fits DT2/DT3 AND RT2/RT3 - it almost certainly won't.
If you can, see if any sizes and manufacturers' marks are shown in fleabay listing photos, to confirm that these are the sizes that you want - some parts are often in the wrong box nowadays.

Remember as well,DT3 bits fit as it's pretty much the same bike.
Also check the part numbers on CMSNL and Partzilla as Al suggested then check TY 250 bits as that's what's going in mine . Think their hard to find there, then try living in the UK ! It's easier to find Chicken lips !

Thanks everyone for the replies, Enduronut located a piston and ring set for me so hopefully it will be up and running for mid- Ohio vintage days! I was hoping other years of the 250 would interchange parts so thank you for that!!

As you're in the US, both CMSNL and Partzilla will give good info on what other models shared a specific part (not as good for Brits, Europeans or Antipodeans!).

Bartman512 - Curious if you contacted Enduronut or possibly DEET about a piston and rings? Using ebay or other sources your choices are definitely limited... and often very expensive.
Enduronut had a huge supply of pistons and rings at very good prices... OEM and aftermarket brands... but I suppose eventually he'll be getting low on some items.
