Firstly Welcome.
How do you know it doesn't charge as won't until running. Ok back to the beginning. Needs 12 volts to spark. So if you flick the points with a screwdriver you should get spark from screwdriver & points plus at the spark plug. Then when running it should poke about 14.5 volts back to the battery plus the starter should operate. That depends on condition of the carbon brushes but if under spring tension they should work even if worn down. Should still spark & run via kickstart even if brushes are stuffed. Let's know a bit more please. Jump it to your car battery. My AT1 is magneto ignition, trouble free & simple but did have an electric model years ago. Thanks & Cheers from NZ downunder.

Thankyou for the tips! The reason I think it isn't charging is I did have it running a year ago but it would always die after about 6 hours of running time. I wish it was magneto setup, lol.

Just took the battery off the charger and it read 12.88 volts. Tried to pop the points and no spark. Maybe the wiring is messed up?

Finally got it running again, I took a little sand paper to the points and that fixed it, rode it for a good 4 hours today. Still not charging the battery though....

Check on the condition of the four brushes in the starter/generator.
