The rear sprocket on the bike is probably around a 60T I would guess, so maybe going back to a 44T will get me the results I am looking for. My old DT1C would top out a little over 70 and would cruise at 65 with no problems. I have never ridden this bike so I have no idea what it might top out at.

I guess you're talking MPH where we use KPH in NZ, but i doubt very much that my DT1 would cruise ar 65mph & top out at 70mph.
So very interested to see how it all pans out in the end.
I remember yamaha claiming fairytale performance figures & fuel economy figures which caused us no end of problems with customers at work due to most small bike not getting the quoted figures except perhaps under very ideal conditions.

I got this bike from my Cousin: I couldn't remember what he told me when I got it from him so I sent him a message. He replied that it did not want to go into first gear. He also said it had a top end around 45mph. So I will be ordering a new smaller rear sprocket for it. I noticed there are a lot of different sellers on ebay for sprockets. Any I should avoid? I want a good quality sprocket.

Well I got time to work on the bike today. I removed the tail light and wiring from the rear fender. At 50+ years old the plastic sleeve containing the wiring was pretty brittle . I finally got smart and got out my heat gun and warmed it up and that helped. Also figured out that the current rear sprocket is a 50T. It has to go as I want more speed.
QUESTION: Are the rubber grommets for the tail lights reproduced? The one in the support is shot and the one where the 2 mounting bolts go on the bottom of the light is good, but I doubt I can remove it without ripping it. ALSO where can I find some of that silver plastic sleeve material. I was wanting to replace in on my wiring. ALSO the grommets in the rear fender. Are they available original or reproduction, or should I just tape them before sand blasting the finder?

I found a guy on Ebay goes by the name of Enduring Cycles who has grommets and hardware for my Enduro. Is he a good guy to buy from? Good quality?

Well that sounds good to me, I just sent him an order. This should get things moving on this project. I want to have this thing together and looking good by June so I can take it on the AMCA road tour here in Oregon, We don't go much more then 40-50 mph so it should do just fine. Last year I drove the pickup rig and scooped up the broke down bikes. That was a lot of fun. We will have 3 different rides this year all about 120 miles each over 3 days.
