1972 Yamaha DS5 was created by 2strokenewb

I can get this bike for nothing. Any thoughts? everything is there, tank and cap are rotten with rust. fork sliders are destroyed from rust too

If you have the space to keep it and time to spend on it, at least to suss out what it needs to get on the road as a "survivor", then definitely a YES from me!

By the way, I'm pretty sure that's a CS5 (195cc, I think), not a DS5.

You are right Al, I keep calling it a DS, probably because my friend who has it calls it an RD

Yes, lots of the pre RD models get called RDs.

As it happens, some of the RD125/200 parts will fit, if CS5 originals can't be found.

Looks like it can be saved but don't mind me. If it were a frame, I would say the same thing.

I think it can be saved, I found a tank and seat already, but haven't bought them or even decided if I am gonna go for it. I already have the DT360 that needs crank seals. and it's in much better shape. But...
