Actually I rode it home... a 69 DT1S.  Seller was close to my house!  He added the 21" wheel. Gave me a stock cylinder and head w/deal.  
going to bring this one to running status and just ride it.

things to do: 
* tuning, soft off idle
* cylinder clearance, felt vibration at 4k rpm.  
* electrical, check wiring.
* verify oil pump fully functional 

best part. guy had a 1979 FORD short wheel base Ford truck he had actually bought when new. It now has a cummins straight 6 w/ A/C. Looked as good as a straight 6 FORD sitting in there, maybe better.

Blimey they're still out there. Just not in my country. Soft idle could mean comp--lack of, although you'd feel it on the kick. Or is it a race kit cylinder fitted with high exhaust port. Only asking as you say stock cylinder etc supplied. Good score. I'm jealous lol. Vibration first thought is engine mounts not tight. Smoke first thought burn out exhaust or go ride it hard. Lucky to find it close to home.

will be taking head off today after checking mounts. Will post up a few pics.

Wow, that looks awesome! Has it had some restoration? Or mostly original? How many miles on it?

3,200 miles or so. Its got new Candy Orange and Silver on it with other traces of lighter restoration. Puttng stock head on tonight and cleaning carb. So far, found lower compression and very significant, the flang oring looked too flat like maybe not sealing for a good vacuum. The wot oring was also on the tired side.

I think the great looking paint is what prompted my question about restoration. When you say "flange o-ring", is that the one that goes down into the bowl? If so, I think the one on my 73 may have been the original and it was like a Matchbox car tire - flat and hard, like plastic. Put a new one on and it ran great.
