A Quick Heads Up About Sealant was created by Tinkicker

While I am fresh from ordering some for the DT100 engine, I thought a quick heads up in order.

Back in the motorcycle fleet days, Yamaha specified Threebond 1215 for sealing crankcase halves together.  To this end I had a tube in my toolbox for years until it started to cure in the tube.
Jobs changed and I was issued a tube of gasket sealant made by the heavy diesel engine gasket manufacturer Elring.

Having the opportunity to compare like for like, I can confirm that the two types not only looked identical, they smelled identical too.
The difference is that the Elring product is a third of the price....

Elring grey gasket maker £6 per tube.
Threebond 1215.   £18 per tube.
