Mauser - I might suggest looking into joining the 59 Club which is based out the UK. You can join through the Ace Cafe web site and you will receive a membership card which should meet your needs. I’m a member in Southern California and we have a great group with no specific make/model requirement.

The requirements of what constitutes a "club" can vary dramatically...  from highly restrictive and specific requirements to a group simply sharing "common interests".  Can be free or require membership fees.  Can provide services and benefits or nothing.  It's once you start getting into the club handling money or property that things can get complicated.  In my opinion, which is worth what you paid for it, this place easily meets the definition of a basic club.

If insurance requires a "membership number" hopefully Mako can come up with something.  But that requirement is coming from the insurance company, it's not some general requirement that to have a "real" club you must issue membership numbers.

I will look into it. Probably a fairly easy addition. There has always been a plan - but it takes some time, to organize a premium membership with some bennies, and one of these days, maybe I can get that to come to fruition. Membership numbers may be a simple thing.

It’s worth some time exploring.

Yep.  Look at the case of the yamaha owners club.  When I had an electrical problem I found myself on that site.  Didn't find what I was looking for and came away.  A few weeks later, the search engine took me there and because I had already had a read, I was not allowed to look in unless I became a member and paid a fee.
Being a bit of a rebel, I thought F U and never darkened their doors again.

I bet the only people who contribute on there are the paid up members.  This severely limits the growth and scope of knowledge available.

I agree with you, As a member of the UK z1 owners club which costs £12 a year, the only input is from paid up members. For me the £12 is worth it because of the club tools and discounts from some dealers and insurance. Also they provide valuation certificates which is essential for classic insurance over £10k. But this makes the club more complicated to run with directors and treasures providing accounts at year end. In my humble opinion this is the best club/ forum that I’ve come across, if a members number would help then this is the way to go without providing to many headaches for Macotosun.

I belong to a “hot rod” club that’s been around continuously since 1940. We don’t have membership numbers. Your name is your ID. Didn’t even have a website until recently.

Again, I’d just use your username as your member ID for this club.  It’s a unique identifier and just as valid as a number.

P.S. Membership here does have rules and benefits already.  Access to Tech Library is a huge benefit.

If I do go with some sort of paid or premium membership model - the forum will always be free. I made that vow when I started it, and intend to keep it. The forum is central to the site success. The only requirement to contribute is to register (free) which helps me control spammers - and we’ve been quite successful with that mission!

In the last 40 years of insuring a motorcycle... I've never been asked if I belong to a club... Maybe Flo doesn't give out discounts..(she's been in the picture from my agent for only a few years now)... Age... THAT makes a diff..
