oil tank emblems was created by Enduro nut

So i thought i would make a quick post about these emblems that i bought in case anyone else was eye balling them. The quality is really nice, very heavy duty compared to the originals however there is just one little problem. As you can see on the back of both emblems they have the "studs" on them. I plan to cut those off and probably use hot glue or maybe super glue. Im a little concerned about being able to bend them to get them flush against the oil tank because the tank isnt a flat surface on the face, at least not a 73 RT360.

After I painted my DT3 tanks I used 2 sided tape. They sell it at most auto part stores, it is used for emblems.

Cheers

Don't even think about super glue or any glue.  Get some 3m emblem tape.

Double-sided foam tape for emblems works great too as Mike posted while I was typing....  probably easier to find too.

Just a quick FYI, those emblems you have pictured are for the 1972 RT2, the 1973 RT3 uses a slightly different and somewhat smaller set of emblems. Most of the '72 models had oil tanks with the holes for those studs, the later ones changed to two-sided tape. All '73 oil tanks used two-sided tape from the factory.
A close look at an original RT3 oil tank will reveal the different style emblems that changed from 1972.

Im glad i posted this because i was unaware about the tape, i will most definitely be using that for sure. Having 2nd thoughts about cutting those off now that you mentioned the RT2 takes those "studs".

Mine didn't have the studs...... I glued mine on with silicone..  But when it comes time to repaint it... it'll peel off easy enough..

I reached out to the supplier, im not sure if i accidentally ordered the wrong one? or if they sent the wrong one? or if they are unaware that the 73 doesnt take the stud type. Regardless im not in a super big hurry so will get to the bottom of this lol

So i put this on hold for too long but anyways i got the correct 360 emblem however the torque induction one isnt. Its the correct style but again its got those pins on the back! I ordered this one from HVCcycle which i havent had any issues with them. I cant help but wonder if maybe they too are unaware that in 73 they dont get the pins on the back? maybe i screwed up again? i took some measurements hoping you guys can shed a little light on this but im about to cut the things off and be done with it already! (first pic reads 95.2mm)

At 95.2mm I wonder if that isn't for/also for the RD series?? The '73s had similar badging at one point I think??
