Data Log Lakewood, CA Enduro Seller Bike at my shop was created by asco
GROUP et al,
About a week ago’ a very good customer dropped off a motorcycle that we had not actually talked to much about. I was informed that Saturday that - this motorcycle had been purchased from the Lakewood, California Craig’s List “mishmash enduro seller.” I am starting this thread because I’m going to document some of the findings. When I am able to get to it? I have three projects going simultaneously. The purpose is to let people know what they could look forward to from this situation. I will try and be as nice as possible but I have previously avoided taking any projects’ from the seller. I will check in - in about 7 days. It is a 1970 DT1 that is painted gold. Most people at first glance would think that it’s a 69 but it’s not.

OK’
Let’s start this Circus’
*Correct’ Brilliant Red* Paint cost $400 for one Enduro. Painting cost $1000. So let’s just call it $1500 for paint and emblems. This bike came to me with really nice paint job a really nice stripe” and glue on DT1 emblems ( no screws ). Now’ from a distance to the untrained eye it looks wonderful Gold’ but to make it correct you got to start all over / and you got a dig out all the Bondo and expose the threads’ primer’ bring it down to bare metal and then buy the paint again so IF you buy this motorcycle AND you want it right’ you’re going to have to spend $1500 more plus your own labor to get it done. And worse yet’ the striping has to be perfect or your going backwards trying to go ahead.
I promise to enclose a couple of pictures.
Mechanically’ I don’t know yet.
Yama-Land flag will fly at haft mast’ all of August’ in his honor for the extra unnecessary work.
Asco.

Reads like a bit of a witch hunt which i hope its not. If the bike was advertised as rebuilt better than new--& turns out it not--then ok!!. But if it was selling as tidied up then anything goes as we all have different ideas. We all have different ideas of what's right & whats not, but sounds like some of you have had dealings. Be keen to see the add from CraigsList. Got me popcorn & ready to go.

Rick,
I know your pain on this. I do want to mention the new owner will eventually possibly see this thread. He is a great customer and I would do anything within my ability to help him. He should stay anonymous.
There is no challenge that with my friends in the community that I cannot handle. With a little help from my friends I am positive that I can sort this bike out.

I had to make a very difficult decision here. What is more important. Is it Feelings? Or, is it getting the information out to the community. Everybody knows that I’m a troublemaker, it’s no big secret. But I do try my very best with the passion that I have for vintage Yamaha Enduro Badge Bikes.
I’m not the town crier. Somebody else has that title and job, and we are friends too.
I’m not trying to dissuade anybody. I’m just reporting my findings to the Yamaha Enduro community and stating an opinion. Everybody’ has to do their own due diligence when purchasing motorcycles or anything for that matter.
