Mikuni parts id and catalogue questions was created by Gr8uncleal

I have acquired a box of used carb parts, a lot of which are Mikuni, and I have a couple of questions:-

1) What is the breakdown of the reference shown on a needle jet? eg 220 O-2, 238 O-3, 290 N-6, 275 E-2.
2) Does anyone know if there is a catalogue or parts list that shows which make/model might have used the parts above, or at least provides a pointer as to where I might start looking? I couldn't see anything appropriate in the Tech Library.

Thanks all.

Three digit number is the series... identifies the style and size of the jet. I don't know if I have a chart or anything that identifies which series fits which carb. Usually you match the series in the carb. Mikuni parts lists sometimes show the series number.

Another trick is sometimes eBay sellers list an OEM part number and the series/size in their listing.

Letter and number identifies the calibration size of the hole in the center of the jet. There are charts that give you the inner diameter... an O-2 of one series will have the same inner diameter as another series O-2. As letters/numbers get bigger, hole gets bigger. Usually in steps of 2 but sometimes there is an odd number available, usually for a specific bike model where the manufacturer spec'd the odd size.... so progression would go ...O-6, O-8, P-0, P-2... from lean to rich... if you came across an O-7 it would likely be only available from the manufacturer of the bike and not through Mikuni. (even though it would be a Mikuni manufactured part)

Thanks Mark. :likey

I came across some charts on the Motocarb website, but Gr8auntiepat summonsed me for tea before I could get stuck into it! I suspect that they might just list current stock.

Fleabay and a general internet search is normally my first step, followed by a search for pictures on CMSNL if anything gets thrown up. I did identify one part like this, but all other searches have proved fruitless so far.

Thanks again.

The 220 O-2 was used in Kawasaki S2 and S3 triples .

Thanks Swoop - that's the only one that I have managed to identify so far!
