Brand new RT1 $854.90 was created by Pete-RT1

I've always been curious, so when I picked up my RT1 I wanted to see if I could find out some of it's history.
There are a couple of stickers on the bike, a KSU parking permit 1973-1974 and a "City Cycle Sales" sticker on the headlight ear.
Two months ago I contacted City Cycle Sales explaining that I had purchased an imported (I'm in the UK) 1970 RT1 and that it had one of their stickers on it and wondered if they had any record of the bike passing through their shop.
I knew it was a long shot and didn't hold out much hope of a response about a bike from fifty years ago.
Last night I received a response from Scott saying they had come across the original bill of sale which they kindly scanned and sent me.
I will try and track down Mr. Cline, the original owner, and let him know his bike is looking good.
There we are, if you want a new RT1 just pop back to 27th February 1970 and City Cycle Sales in Kansas will sell you one for the bargain price of $854.90.

It also looks like he got cheated, the last payment entry appears to be for $30? yet they only deducted $20 from his balance, or am I reading it wrong? Also weird is the payments are made and written down in the months of 1970, but the invoice is written in 1971 at the top. It shows a payment made March 27th 1970 with a remaining balance of $124.90, surely he paid that off before the invoice being written on February 27th 1971?

It very cool that document still exists 50 years later and that the business still exist and they were nice enough to look for it.

Was very kind of them to make the effort and dig out a bit of history for me.
I emailed them to thank them and sent a couple of pics of the bike, they responded saying it looks great which was nice to hear.

WOW . A great piece of provenance for your bike .
It's almost unbelievable that their records from that far back still existed .

I read the customer name as "Gerold M Cline" does anyone read it different to me?
And does anyone have any ideas on tracking him down?
I'm guessing he is the reason there's a 1973 KSU parking permit on the bike.
