NEW MEMBER- 1971 Yamaha DT 250 was created by Orbit

Hello
I bought the bike about a year ago. It seems to be very original and shows 1176 miles on the odometer but no telling if that is correct. The bike is Orange and it looks like it has been painted before because the clear on the tank has hardened drips on the bottom and the white lines that border the sides of the tank seem to have Orange color in them.  So far I have bought a seat cover and base from KDI reproductions and they are very nice.  I would like to find somebody I can send the Orange parts to for painting. I will spend some time on this site, I am sure I will find some paint options.  The rear turn signal housings are pitted.  Is there somebody who is restoring these?  I had a DT 125 40 years ago when I was a kid so I am really looking forward to bringing this bike back to a nice, original example - but not going to make a show bike out of it because I plan to ride this bike.
Thanks for any help or advise I can get.
Rodger

I will post some pictures when that is possible.

I have this white wiring (rectifier circut) coming out of the case but nothing to plug it in to.

Wyodan, check owner and/or service manuals.  White at stator is optional daytime charge wire, not normally used.  just make sure it can't contact ground.

Ok thanks, that makes sense. No manuals in hand but will mess around online and see if I can find the page.

As HT1kid said, manuals are in Tech Library here.

From the 1971 DT250 Service Manual:

(If you switch to the white, then you'll have an unused green coming out of stator, I would not recommend doing this unless you have an issue with green "daytime charging" wire)

P.S. Two Brothers Painting... Oklahoma I think... does excellent work painting these bikes.

I have 4 Enduros painted by Tim Rains. Excellent quality.
The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.
