DT3 Farm to Street-Tracker was created by TresCuatros

I've had atv's and motorcycles on and off most my life. The two strokes were always the most fun but the four strokes always won the most trophy's. Given a recent back injury and lengthy recovery, I figured it was best to start a project more about the build process and the fun of the ride rather than trying to build a race-worthy bike for competition. What's more fun than a vintage 2T with a bonified California legal plate? - How about one I can track too
Enter this DT3 I acquired in October 2020.

Current State:
1973 Yamaha DT3 (250cc)
Stock Mikuni Carb
Stock Wheels
Unk bore / piston
Starts first kick
Last street registered in 1985
Leaks a bit of oil from some yet-to-be-determined location
5yr old gave me the thumbs up.
Wife thinks it's good for me to start another project after selling the last one.
Wife has no idea what kind of habit she's supporting
Game on

Future State:
Deraked & plated stock frame
Disc Front
[Preferably] disc rear
[Preferably] 19" F/R wheels, Dirt Track Tires
Stock tank
Glass Seat section
Chromoly or Aluminum subframe
Chromoly Swing Arm
Flat Slide Carb
Updated reed cage (V301a, V4R01D)
Modern electrical (12v, CDI?)
Find the leak [preferably fix it too]

I'll skip most the details on the research since my primary documentation has been on this site:

Here's generally where it is today:

In work now - taking a look at the rear setup. The rear wheel is also a DL1000 3-spoke alloy front. I'll have to machine a sprocket and rotor adapter. Using 20mm axle with new CB600F caliper and bracket. This'll be a large iteration process as I also need to build the chromoly swingarm before I can square away the rear end spacing.

Cheers!

I'm not sure which one you're referring to SHYTED.

The DT1 has a stocky style tube swing arm, the black one with flames & box swing arm is a Harley.I'm not sure which one you're referring to SHYTED.

 Thanks!
My goal with every part has been to reduce weight and increase performance. Hence the Suzuki DL1000 Wheel, GSXR Rotor, and CB600F Fork/Caliper.
Quite a lot of keyboard time and a few mistakes to sort this out.

Out back look for a similar setup w/smaller rotor and handbuilt swingarm.

Wow, now i'm sitting up & taking notice lol. Love it. Won't show you mine although its up here somewhere i think. "70 R5 frame with twin leading front brake with a mixture DT1 & DT1MX motor but with a stroker crank--well a 360 RT1 crank RT1-2-3, 70x70 bore & stroke. But it looks horrible orribly orrible lol. Goes like hell though. Has a chamber exhaust i made, all about 20-30 years ago. Dragged it out recently & still goes. Love yours though & i loose sleep thinking about how much work you guys do to get a result like that.
