3 red wires on dt250a was created by Ericb1318
AI just put a new wire harness from speed and sport on a dt250a. The last harness was all chopped up so I'm not sure how all the red wires connect by the battery. There are 2 female connectors and 1 male connector. I assume the male connector goes into fuse harness and then to the battery. One of the female ends is always hot and the other is only hot with the key turned on. I want to make sure I wire this thing correctly but I'm not able to see what I am missing on the diagram. Help please!

Picture would help!
It's possible that the fuse holder connects from the harness to the harness and not directly to the battery. Many Yamaha's are wired that way.
Hopefully one of the many experts here will weigh in.

Yes, I thinking that too, Fuse between the two female connectors then the battery which will have a female on the positive goes to the male of the harness--'me thinks'. Been wrong before, just can't remember when lol--oh wait, wife will remember!!, all the time.

I posted pics. Do ya'll still think it is just lacking a fuse between the two female connectors?

If I remember correctly, the early Yamaha fuse holders had male connectors to prevent simply bypassing the fuse and for safety. (with the fuse holder unplugged, the "hot wire" from the battery to the fuse is an insulated female connector)
The wire from the battery should have also have a female connector for safety which means the wire on the harness that connects to the battery needs to be male.
That's my guess.

So you have two females & a male. The male end goes to the battery.
The females are connected together with your fuse block which has two male ends.
Here is a pic of mine before I tore it apart for restoration
same bike DT250A
I also used a new harness from speedandsport. NO PROBLEMS, it works just like the original.

That was the picture I needed! Thanks! If you run into any problems with your bike let me know. I most likely have them too. The latest problem being the auto lube quit pumping when the bike is running hard but pumps fine when I stop the bike and manually spin the plastic wheel on top of the pump. It was rebuilt by Deet too. I am running clear lines so I can see it happening before she locks up

Did you contact Deet about your autolube issue?
He's a great guy to work with on issues like that.
He's done some work for me & it was all A+.

I need to reach out to Deet. I know the rebuild was spot on. There may have been contaminants in the oil reservoir that got into the pump. I have a delete kit but like the idea of using the autolube on the bike. It pumps just fine when I spin the plastic wheel on the autolube but I find it unreliable when riding hard. It is almost like a bubble forms sometimes or it loses its "prime"
