DT 400 Carb Specs was created by Andy_C

Can anyone tell me the definitive specs for a DT 400 Carb please.

I have looked in the workshop manual available from the tech section of this site, but they dont quite match what I have in my bike.

Thanks.

What EXACT model do you have?  Most data is for US models and there were slight variations between years (or even in the same year) sometimes.

Should also be a small stamp in carb body identifying the exact model.  Might be about 5 digits and starting with "500" or "501"

...Also, didn't you say it was running perfectly?  Maybe the "don't quite match" variations are why?

You could post up what your carb has installed and maybe one of the 400 experts will know more.

Mark - perfectly fair comment.

All I was looking to do was "baseline" what I have in my carb against what it should be, it certainly runs very well, I am just interested to see what is different to the factory specs.

I'll dig out some more info, but for now all I can tell you it is a 1976 DT400 C USA Spec, I'll see what markings are on the carb.

I have a 76 DT400C US bike too.  I tried to figure this out and got conflicting info from multiple sources.  Here is a link to a picture of the spreadsheet I came up with.  The right two columns are for the DT400C.

I tried to include the picture but it didn't work.

Jay - can see anything there.

I have taken a look at my carb and:

Body is stamped 500 63
Needle: 6F9
Clip: 4th groove from top
Slide: 3.0
Main Jet: B170
Pilot Jet: 6140

I have not taken the needle jet out.

As has been said the bike seems to run fine, all I was after was to compare my carb to the stock specification - managed to open your message that you sent the link to and it  looks like my carb matches the spec that you have listed, given that I have not checked the needle jst or starte jet,

I think I can assume it is stock.

Just in case you haven't seen it, here is the spec shown on the Partzilla parts list.

Andy_C:  Sorry if the link didn't work for you.  It works for me, maybe because I made that post.  Your carb parts line up with what is in the spreadsheet I linked.

Great Uncle Al: Thanks for linking that.  Partzilla was the only place I could find data on the DT400C carb and what I reference in the spread sheet.

I think I have the Yamaha spec sheet for the 400C.  I will look for it tonight.
