What is everyone using for a stand? was created by srsnow
Hi guys, what are people using for a stand? I have both wheels off my 74 DT125 waiting on new wheel bearings and it seems eveything I have here does not work to put the bike on. I thought the main issue was the foot peg bar but ven with that off the frame seems to have a weird curvature to it that wont allow it to sit on any stand I have. So right now it is just sitting on the ground but that makes it hard to work on and hard to get the wheels back on when I get them back.

I've got an old bike bench i wheel the bike up onto then tie the front down via the handlebars. Gets it at a workable height. So when i rarely have both wheels out or even just the front wheel or forks out i just turn it crossways on the bench & is safe that way with both ends off the ground albeit not very high of the ground.
If your shed had good rafters you could hook tie downs up to them from the handlebars & one or two at the back of the bike then haul it up. I've also got an electric cable winch i forgot about as its not ideally placed--my fault--but can be quite useful.

My scissor stand is hydraulic and has J-bolts to connect to pegs or frame and clamp in place. Works great.

So far I've only removed one wheel at a time to work on, and I've used a hydraulic floor jack. If I position the jack toward the front of the rockshield I can lift the front wheel off the ground, and if I move it back I can get the rear wheel off the ground. It kind of makes a tripod between the floor jack, the wheel that stays on the ground, and the kickstand.

I need to get a stand myself but have always used a square milk crate turned upside down. Works in a pinch.

I use a small scissor stand on top of my lift table. If you add tie-downs to the rear of the frame it will allow you raise the front wheel off the table so that you can remove both wheels.
