What do the different letters mean for the type of Dt250?

how do i tell what type my is?  1974 Orange DT 250 dual shock

Have you checked the VIN in the Tech library above?
The A,B,C and D denotes year.

The 74' is Tank Color(s) Virginia Gold

ok looking through the VIN materials on the tech library its a 75.  was told its a 74 when I bought it.  so 74 means its a B

Yamaha often manufactured a frame the calendar year before it was actually sold. Therefore your frame might have year of manufacture 1974 stamped on it, even though it is a 1975 bike.

I won't bore you with the details, but this means that imported bikes into the UK often have a registration based on the year before a model was actually available.

Runs great in gears 1,2,3 then really sluggish when I hit 4th at 40 mph or so. doing some research might be a weak source coil, so I've been thinking about going to a Vape CDI and 12 V conversion
