Any tips for removing stator side crank seal? was created by AirborneSilva
Hey guys, I tried removing the crank seal on the stator side, did the clutch side yesterday, and figured out I wasn't going to use a screwdriver like I did on the other side so I went to a buddy's auto shop and borrowed a seal puller but when I got home I found out there's no lip for the tool to catch on. It's a 76 DT400. Thanks for any helpful hint's, tips and or secrets! Tony

I put a drywall screw into the rubber part of the seal, next to the metal edge, then use pliers to pull it out. Simple job.

Thanks, I'll give that a try but wasn't aware there was a rubber edge except the one closest to the crank. I did try drilling a small hole in the metal part, using a deck screw but just pulled the screw out...

Thank you Yamahahaha that seal looks different than mine, looks all rubber, mine is metal except closest to the crank. I did try a screw but only pulled the screw out and didn't budge the seal...

I used a punch to make a small hole in the metal of the seal (don't be too heavy handed). I've seen some YouTube clips where they drill a small hole, but then you get the problem/worry of swarf.
