Ok will try to push it out the top tonight. Apart from being locked in place with old grime, I guess it doesnt come out normally because the slide comes down on top of it?

When you put it back, I think that there might be a little locating notch.

Good morning Alan, yes there is a little notch you line up. That's what I tried to describe in an earlier post but obviously failed to convey. I'm sure he'll get it.

Morning Tony.

I'd probably forgotten that you mentioned it already!

it definitely did not come out. I have bought a new carb with a few jets, I hope this sorts my issues, they are driving me crazy. With the standard pilot jet, the best the bike runs is with the air screw wound all the way in

If ya talking the emulsion tube-needle jet--i just screw a 5mm screw in the bottom & tap it out the top. Thread is slightly off but screws in far enough by by hand then just a bit more by screwdriver to snug it tight but not to damage the thread. Then tap with a hammer or just drive it down onto the bench vice etc. Never had one stuck entirely. Also as was mentioned there's a guide pin at the bottom coming in sideways. Long screw makes it easy to pull back in. Or if it needs freeing up i just whiz it up & down a few times using the screw to push pull & scrape off what's sticking it. Don't forget to align the pin though when going right down!!, but the up & down freeing job isn't so important to align as not easy to do while doing that. Pin is only for the last little bit.
