72 DT2 key switch wire diagram was created by AirborneSilva

Hey guys, troubleshooting no lights or horn.  Was given the direction by Mr. Mike Mient that most likely my issue was in the key switch and contacts needed cleaning.  Well when I removed the switch I found three wires disconnected from the bottom of the switch (see picture), can anyone tell me where each one gets soldered to?  Thanks as always for your help!  Tony

 Hopefully it will help.

The "legend" for testing which wires connect with which in each switch position should be in the service manual (I use a lamp tester).

Somehow mine is different than your diagram, you can see that some different color wires are already occupying space where your diagram shows different colors.  Also, it looks like there's two connections on mine that are cleaner than the others and some that have never been connected.  I'm wondering it the Red and brown wire connect to the same one, by blue wire, and the green/red stripe, connects to the other by the white wire.

Are the positions of the copper "terminals" the same, or are they like the CT2/3 (see attached)?

I've just had a closer look at your photo and, to my eyes, it looks like you have a CT2/3 switch.

I think that you should be ok if you wire as per the CT diagram that I attached. I recall that the legends are the same, so no idea why Yamaha used different switches for the bikes.

This one looks to be identical to what I have.  So, what's the worst that could happen if I get one of them wrong?  Looking at the CT2 diagram you just sent I'm 99.99% sure I know where the red and green/red stripe wires go and 75% sure of where the brown goes...

Red/green to the left of the white.

Brown to above and left of the blue.

Red to above and right of the blue, but also makes a double connection to "terminal" above and left of this.

That is pretty much what I'm thinking too.  My only question is, if you look at the diagram and the connection just below and to the left of white then look at the picture I posted it looks like there was a wire soldered to that and not to the left of white on same outer plane (if that makes sense)...

I see what you mean, although I suspect that is where someone had soldered a wire and tried to make it "work".
