1969 DT1 "S" was created by KJB
Just interested....
Are there any US based DT1 Enthusiasts on the Forum who own a 1969 DT1 "S"?
There have been very few mentions of this Model and was wondering if they were Marketed in the US.
Although rare, we seem to have disproportionate number here in Australia.
Maybe there are some DT1 Owners in US who do not realise that their DT is an "S" because they have never heard of them. ( I was an "unaware owner" here in Australia for some time - until I enquired about the DT1 S stamping on the Crank case. )

KJB,
I had a pair of "S" models (sold one to a forum member), both are stamped "DT1-S" on the left engine case & VIN's in the 90,000 range. I know of one other forum member based in US with an S model, so there are a few out there but very rare birds. 1,472 produced for US market.
Thanks,
swm

If Australia got them, chances are we got them here in NZ too but like others i didn't know about the S. What were the differences. Our first one my Boss bought had a gold tank & december "68. I like the ratio spacing of the first model not sure if ours was an S but first coarse tooth box from "68 & i used those in later years on my 360 but broke the spindly 3rd gear big wheel & made a hell of a mess. Broke that too in my white tank DT1 when new but motocrossing & came out the bottom. The days when you couldn't just pull another case out from under the bench. Would S be in the engine number or just stamped at the front. I worked in the local Yamaha shop back then. Miss those days.

Morley . We must have got some here in NZ . There was one on Trade Me about six months back .
It was in a very poor state , but still went for a pretty penny .
Some might describe it as a Barn Find , but it didn't look like it had seen the inside of a barn
for some considerable time .
I'm sure the seller didn't know what it was , or it's rareity .
