Ignition Switch Part# Question was created by Phils2888

According to Partzilla, the part# for the ignition switch for a 71 DT1 ignition switch is 214-82508-71, but I am unable to locate that part. All I seem to find is a 214-82508-20. Is anyone familiar with them to know what the difference is? i have attached a photo of the harness connectors I have. Thanks.

Copy of the image from the CMSNL website of the "-20" part. You can see from this image the differences in the wiring.

My US market DT1 E parts manual lists the ignition switch as 275-82508-70 .
However the picture shows a connector block with only two wires , two single wires
with male bullet connectors , and two single wires with female bullet connectors .
That definitely doesn't match your harness pictured .
The 214-82508-20 switch is for the early Dt1's that have the switch mounted
under the fuel tank .

If your ignition switch mounts below the tank, you need a 214/233 that has 10 wires on it.
If it sits between the instruments, you need the 275 with 10 wires.

Deet, so are you saying that the 214-82508-20 and the 233-82508-20 are interchangeable? Yes. I am looking for the switch that mounts under the tank. Another question regarding the rectifier. My bike currently does not have one. Where does it mount? I assume somewhere near the ignition switch. Thanks. Phil

If your magneto has the green wire with red stripe, you would want to use the switch with 10 wires. You would use a main wire harness that matched.

If your magneto does not have that wire, you would use the switch with 7 wires. This is the 1968/69 version.
There is a different main wire harness to match it.

We have talked about this awhile ago and I will be sending you my stator to rebuild when my budget allows. See the attached photo of what I have now. The Main harness does have the green wire with the red stripe but I do not have the harness from the stator up to the main harness which you said you could make up. So my question remains, are both of those part numbers For the ignition switch that I had in my last post interchangeable as ten wire switches?

Better ask for a photo of the switch rather than just relying on a part number.
