JT2.......Won't go into ANY gear was created by yamahahaha
I went and looked at a JT2 the other day. I was NOT able to find ANY gears using the shift lever. I tried with and without the clutch. I even tried rolling the bike back and forth. It was if there was nothing there at all. NOT even a click of any sorts. My question is " What are the POSSIBLE CAUSES of this ?????

Rusted Transmission gears or rusted Shift Drum are my educated guesses!!!

No chain.
Rear sprocket bolts broken off.
Front sprocket nut fallen off & sprocket moved off the splines.
Main shaft broken.
Output shaft broken .
Neutral is at the top on those so 4 down incase ya thinking wrong.
I had two JT1's back in the day & have a third one somewhere [grandkids].

Another guess. It's landed hard on the left side & popped the circlip & shaft's moved sideways then claw arm has got off the drum pins.
Might be hard for that to happen as probably not much clearance between the gear lever & case/cover to move sideways.
Unless something happened while left case has been off. Could pull hard on the gear lever while moving up & down through its travel & 'might get lucky' & pop back on.

RT325, good guess. I've seen that more than once on the AT/CT with a similar shifter design. Happens easier than you'd think.
