VINTCO vs. PRO-X connecting rods was created by nhsteve

Looking to rebuild 2 AT1s this year ('69 & '70), so I'm going to rebuild the crank assemblies. I will need new rod assemblies, and I currently see 2 so far, VINTCO and PRO-X brands. The VINTCO looks nice and the website is good. I see PRO-X on eBay as well. The price difference is about $75.

As neither of these will be used hard (i.e.- raced) would the less expensive PRO-X be acceptable? Or would I be better advised to buy the more expensive assembly, and know that when the bikes eventually go down the road to the next user, that they will have had the best available?

I'll be sending them to Bill Bune to do the work. (Hmmmm..... I should also probably ask them this as well, eh??

Replied by Enduro nut on topic VINTCO vs. PRO-X connecting rods

Ive never bought a vintco rod kit but i did buy a prox kit for my Honda xr200r. Made in Japan, everything looked and felt great. I have bought the cheap off brand rod kits from ebay for 250/360 rat bikes i play around on and so far i haven't had any issues with those. I think its safe to say that either one will do you just fine. Anything made in Japan is good from my experience and what i try to stick with as much as i can when restoring.
