The JDM motor is the same spec as export motors .
So no issues there with compatability .

I will have to see about getting one! Appears it would come in handy for a myriad of projects, and alot of perks over a dry blast cabinet. Have you tried soda media with it? I was reading that is completely safe for carbs. I have no idea at this point, lol.

I have a soda blaster and this is better but next time I change out the Slurry I will try it with soda. If you want to send me something to do for you I will so you can see the results

I will definitely consider that! Do you think you could fit an item the size of a flywheel cover, or crankcase cover?

Many thanks. I'm finding the bits I need now... a FrankenCarb but it'll help avoid a long-period of teething problems!

JDM = Japanese Domestic Market.
Some parts were a little different to export models (eg to US, UK etc), some weren't.
Some JDM bikes were brought back to the US with returning servicemen, and these can raise a few queries once they enter the market. The UK is getting a few JDM models imported now.

Another question regarding air vents on these carbs. The 311 E2 I have only has one on the left side (same side as fuel inlet). When I look at parts diagrams for a DT-1B I see two, one labeled "Pipe, Air Vent" (183-14197-01-00) which the diagram doesn't show connection point, and another labeled "HOSE (L200) (90445-05N13-00) which is the one I see on my carb connecting to a fitting just below the screw-on top - I've been assuming that it is an overflow. I've also seen a few with a third hose at the base of the float bowl.
SInce the tube I don't have is called "Air Vent" I'm wondering if the body of this carb can be fitted with parts from earlier kit at all. It looks to me like this air vent is meant to bring fresh air in for mixing purposes, but that's just a guess.

My parts books for both models ( US Market ) both show two hoses , though on the DT2 book ,
they are both named as overflow pipes . The part numbers are the same in both books .
