I usually order either from my local Yamaha dealer or Rocky Mountain (RMATV) it usually works out cheaper online even after paying shipping.
Local Yamaha Dealer (PRO’s)
Buying local, keeping money local
Get (10% discount) for volume buyer, even though with 10% discount still usually more expensive than online.
Usually nothing in stock for these old bikes, but free shipping, but it takes usually about 5 business days.
Online buying Dealer Rocky Mountain or Partzilla (PRO’s)
Almost always cheaper pricing
Rocky Mountain uses flat rate shipping of $7.00 if it fits in small boxes like the petcock would shipped USPS Priority mail, I usually have it in 2 business days. My guess $22.00 petcock plus $7.00 shipping would still be cheaper than what the local Yamaha dealer would charge, dealer probably does not have it in stock and would have to order it.
I usually wait till I get a decent size order, I recently bought 2 tires and about 10-15 small parts, they have FREE SHIPPING after $75.00 so my tires, and bunch of small parts were free shipping and much much cheaper than I could get the parts at my local shop. I was a parts manager for a Kawasaki dealer in the mid 80’s and unfortunately most parts people I deal with wether at a motorcycle or auto parts store are clueless, I trust myself much more to look up the correct parts and find the best pricing.

The genuine Yamaha ATV petcock arrived today, even though I wasn't expecting it till next Monday. Much higher quality, and it has a shorter body, like the original petcock. I cut the tall tube down to match the original CT-1 petcock, and tried to put a groove in it to hold the filter tip on, and it's staying on pretty well. It also has a larger opening in the exit tube, even though it still works best with quarter inch fuel line. And best of all, it actually shuts off!

Got mine today too!
I haven’t shortened the tube on the other four I’ve used, mainly because I just ride such short distances and I always top off the tank to minimize the rust inside.
Don’t forget to remove that clear tube over the screen. It is only there to protect the screen until you install it.

Thanks for the heads up Schu,, but I did notice that clear protective sleeve and took it off. Also for posting that seller. That was unbelievable how fast they shipped from the east coast to the west coast in just a few days, and it was only "economy" free shipping.
I try to keep the tank topped off as well, but I just thought it was was so tall that I could be going around a corner with a half tank, and it would start sucking air. I used some small tubing cutters to cut it.
