I've got to check on the tail light.. since I'm ordering may as well... Perhaps using more energy sipping bulbs, that'll give the head light a wee bit more to shine with?
Now, while sorting out the mess someone before me did the wiring harness, I did find the original tag attached to it... It started with the 308-... In my looking's, Ive not been able to nail down the parts prefix for this RT2... Is this then it?

Oh yeah, the LED bulbs I have are probably 8 or 9 years old (maybe older). I also have one, a dual wattage bulb in my Z50 tail light. There is one thing to keep in mind with LEDs, at least the ones like I have. You need the color bulb for the application. I have a blue bulb in the high beam indicator, the back lighting are clear bulbs. The turn signal indicator will need an amber bulb. I put a clear bulb in turn signal indicator for a test. It worked fine but was really bright.

And..... if your thinking about 1129 LEDs for the turn signals, the turn signal flasher may not work. You may need a 6v electronic flasher. I've not tried LED in turn signals, but I do have an electronic flasher in my RT2 so maybe I'll experiment.

Kenny, if you have an old LED in the gauge turn signal indicator and it works on both left and right turn that would be unusual.

That bulb is DC and most (older especially) LED's are polarity-sensitive.  The polarity on that bulb reverses when you switch from left to right.

You might also run into issues if you change the signals themselves to LED...  all four could start flashing or the indicator light could stop working.

These topics and solutions have been discussed here before if you run into a problem.

With the wiring harness , 308 is the RT2 prefix .

One solution is to use a 3 terminal electronic flasher relay, the "P" panel terminal being used to energise the instrument flasher lamp.

So Mark has me thinking more about the turn signals and LEDs. I started remembering bits and pieces of discussions about this from way back in the YE.com days. I'm now thinking when I tried the LED in signal indicator I may have only switched one direction. Today I'm going to try it again in both directions.

So if polarity is an issue on older/some LED bulbs.. could a guy make short little jumpers to change the wires where they connect at the bullet connection? Change the brown and green/chocolate ?

So my LED bulb works both directions in the signal indicator. Im now thinking back in the YE.com days there was a general consensus that a LED would not work in the turn signal circuit and I accepted that and never tried to see for myself, shame on me. I wish I could remember when I switched to the LEDS to know just how old they are. This bike, my 250A was my first restoration project and is now almost a 20 year old restoration.

Yeah...  it wasn't just a "consensus"...  it was a fact.  LED stands for "light emitting diode" and a diode only lets current flow in one direction like the rectifier in the charging system.

LED's can be a PITA...  I bought a bunch for my little travel trailer, L194-type base that can be inserted either way.  If you install and it doesn't work you need to remove it, turn it 180, and reinstall.

Superbright does sell some LED's that are not polarity-sensitive.  You can filter to find them.
