Polish the living day lights out of them, then spray with Waxoil in side and out, ( i take it you have that in the US).
Let them drip dry then bag them squeezing all the air out and then tie wrap the bag.
When you want them out ,wash them in Petrol .

Agree with Shyted. I use Mercury Marine anti corrosion spray. Used to work at a boat dealer. It's what we used for winterizing . Then attic storage, high and dry. My 79 Kawi SR650 exhaust looked like new 8yrs later when I moved.

Thanks, yes i'm in the states, fourtuatly the bike was bought, sold and lived in SoCal all its life. The pipes have some surface rust and a few dents, but not the dreaded #3 rotten pipe. For those who dont know, the Honda fours of that era where proned to rusted pipes. There were water drain holes and they worked ok if on the center stand and weren't plugged. But like we all did, parked the bike on the side stand and at that angle the condsation wasn't able to drain.

So there you go,  more info than you maybe need, but I have been accused of being full of it.

Thanks Mark

Mark,
As others have mentioned, some sort of product with wax in it will be best.  Even pure paste wax.

However, as you probably know already, nothing will stop the pipes from rusting once they have begun to rust.   You can only slow it down slightly.  Deprive it of oxygen and moisture.    Pipes usually rot out from the inside.

Rust? Then say no more !
Yep,you know what's coming next then don't ya !
EVAPORUST . Submerge your rusty pipe in the stuff as it doesn't harm chrome.
Say goodbye to rust .

Wow Gibbs, never heard of it.
It looks like it will do everything, maybe even a dessert topping.

Reminds me of Shimmer, it's a floor wax and a dessert topping.
Thanks Mark

Yes, Evaporust might help with the surface rust.  I use it to derust tank interiors.  On the exhaust pipes, I would first remove what you can with bunched up aluminum foil and WD-40, turning over the foil often to keep the rust particles out of the rubbing process.   Then clean off the  surface thoroughly of all the WD-40 with a solvent, then soak in Evaporust for 24 hours, then wash off the Evaporust and quickly seal the metal with oil or WD-40 or wax before it rusts again.

i just ordered a two cans from Amazon. I need something to wipe my bikes down with because they are stored in my barn with a gravel floor. Very hard on stuff due to condensation during certain times of year. This stuff sounds to good to be true!
