'75 DT250B Handlebar Question was created by NJCorky
Sorry, I googled and checked on here as much as I could. I just picked up a 1975 250B. It has, what I think, are a few aftermarket parts. The shocks are obvious but what about the black handlebars? Most pictures I see are of chrome (or shiny aluminum). Were they an option at the time or did somebody just slap them on there at some point in the past. Thanks for any help.

Nice looking bike. Someone replaced them plus the grips, seat cover and tires from what i can see in the picture. Black handlebars wasn't an option that i am aware of.

I don't see anything other than what's been mentioned. You probably know this but it's missing turn signals and mirrors.

Thanks for the replies!
I have the turn signals and the mirrors. When I rode it home it didn't have the mirrors on and I didn't like that! I put the better of the two on for now. I'll have to figure out how to mount the turn signals and if they'll even work with the turn signal switch that's there! I'll do more digging on the switches and what stock ones look like and if getting new switches and original looking bars is worth it. I definitely plan on replacing the shocks. They feel good but look horrible. I'd love to find an original set of thermal flows and rebuild them but as a minimum I'd like to get something more vintage looking.

If that taillamp bracket is chrome, it's probably from an RD. Still Yamaha ! Nice bike, great find. Beware, replacement shocks are often larger in diameter causing possible chain clearance problems. Look at Hagon or Icon for shocks.
