That's good. So it is actually running now, not just kick-over spark on the head?.

Oh I’m not there yet. This bike came to me in pieces so I am slowly putting it together piece by piece on the weekend when I have time, testing every component as I go. Had to get a stator and coils from a ‘77 model, exhaust from a ‘75, etc. The entire wiring harness needs to be remade as the previous owner shredded it in his attempt to create a cafe racer. It’s a real Frankenstein but I’m hoping to get some gas in it and fire it up soon.

Okay everyone...

I've got spark, but no start. Yet. Logic tells me it's got to be either the carb, or ignition timing. Any easy way to tell which? I don't own the special gauge to check timing...

• Carb has been cleaned rebuilt, but the jets look all original and fuel is flowing.
• The whole top end has been rebuilt and there's lots of compression on kick.
